Essentials For Installing A V Rod Body Kit

By Anthony Stevens

It is not unusual to want to change the frame of your motorcycle especially when it has been damaged. More often than not it is better to install a new frame using a v Rod Body Kit as getting the exact part that was damaged or scratched is either difficult or impossible. It is normally the only way to maintain the aesthetic value of the bike with nothing seeming off due to little differences in the frame.

Insurance companies do not like it when a person tinkers with the bike, especially if the modifications deal with performance or how the motorcycle handles. Changing the frame of the bike has little to do with the performance and more with the aesthetic value. That is not to say that the insurance company will not have an issue with it.

For some people, as long as the parts function properly that is all that matters. However, that is not the case with the majority of the bikers who are very much into the aesthetics of their bikes. They like it when their bikes are alluring and if they cannot find a part that matches the rest of the bike, then they will replace the entire frame.

For them the standard look that they bought the bike does not reflect their personality or simply does not make them feel good about the bike. They therefore opt to simply change the frame into something that is more suitable and appealing to them. A frame that identifies their tastes, likes, nature and makes them proud to own it.

There are however factors that one needs to consider before they set out to do such a modification. First and foremost they need to wait for the warranty period of the bike to expire otherwise it becomes null and void. The benefit of waiting for the expiration of the warranty is that you will not have to bear the cost if anything should happen to your bike during that period.

Some people normally opt not to inform or consult with their insurance companies when they make modifications to their motorcycles. This is because they do not want to be told what they can and cannot do to spruce up how the machine looks and work. They may get away with it for a certain time but the challenge will come when they need to claim from their insurance company.

This will determine if the insurance company will approve the modification or refuse. Many insurance companies do not have a problem in installing a new body what they normally have an issue is with the type. If the type of body installed will increase the aesthetic value of the bike greatly, then your premium is likely to increase as chances of the bike getting stolen are high increasing their chances of paying out.

It is, therefore, better to state your intention even before you buy the kit that you want to install. Make sure that they approve of it and that you are comfortable with the increase of premium if at all they choose to increase it. Also when stating your intention, make sure you let the insurer know the actual value of the kit you want to install as it will also affect the payout should you ever require one.
