C3 Corvette Parts And Why They Are Still Available

By Patricia Cooper

One of the longest running car series ever is for a Chevrolet model that lasted from 1968 up to 1982, famous for things like shark bodies and the like. Iconic models have come and gone for this, with some featured importantly on movies and TV. GM, the biggest American car company, made these vehicles, but it has since discontinued production and parts making.

Thoughtful people have foreseen the stoppage of production by gathering up lots of stock for these, for every year it was made. C3 Corvette parts are still very much available these days, and this is excellent for owners who drive the same kinds of vehicles. Some shops also have enough technical expertise for recreating components that are hard to find, and may even have permission from GM.

The models that were most popular were coupes, some of which gave Euro sports cars a run for their money. These have little problems with availability, but these can be present for special models put out by the company from time to time. With these, you need to find good shops that might have stocked items for them, and these are fewer in number.

Engines here are V8, always done in small block, something like efficient engines for fighters, working in bodies taken from shark shapes. Many recognized designers were working with GM for these, and they were often brilliant and innovative. There were so many buyers of the brand that a lot of folks lump them with apple pie, rock and roll and astronauts.

The things have been known for their iconic effect to modern times in this country. And they are some of the most attractive of those that are found on highways here. Almost all models for this series had great production runs and many were sold. Accessories, designs, and high performance standards influenced these, and were also relevant to standards for all cars.

Distributors are trying to outdo each other in stocking all kinds of used and brand new items scoured through the heartland. There have been so many enthusiasts for the cars that it will take some time before the inevitable dry spell for parts will happen. Meantime, as the vehicles become collectibles, maintenance will become the consideration for owners as the years pass.

Things like chargers, starters and batteries are also there, and also studs, air cleaners and filters and wing nuts. Frames, bumpers, bodies, hoods and important fiberglass items will also be mostly available. The outlets here will tell you that taking out a few items should help keep your car serviced and usable for a lot more years than usual.

As said, these vehicles are iconic, but like all other cars have to run with a lot of different parts. Engine components are so varied and many that there is nothing but admiration for the way shops have manfully come up with complete lists on offer. Products made specific to this series are highly different from those being made today, and so there is no replication.

The ideal thing to do is plan on how you will be able to maintain your model in this series. Vette owners are some of the luckiest in the collectible car game, since many other models do not have the same parts availability. And while they are quickly becoming classics, some people will be the luckiest ones who own these cars.
