Doing recreational activities with boats is fun specially when you are together with friends, relatives and associates. You could be traveling together on a river, sea or lake and enjoy swimming, fishing, diving and other water sports. This is usually done during the hot summer days where the weather is great for these things and you are not worried in getting cold.

Having your own vessel used is an advantage because you would not worry if its available unlike the rental ones where its availability should be confirmed. But you need to use and rent boat storage spaces Tucson when cold seasons come for the protection of your vessel. This prevents damages from harsh forces of winter.

Although you need to perform some things before storing them to avoid it from getting damaged even when it is safely stored for a long while. These damages may not be covered by the insurance policy you have and will cost great money to have them repaired before being usable again. Here are various tips in preparing for boat storage.

Take your craft onto the water for one last time before you store it, either with relatives, associates, friends or alone. Aside from enjoying together the cruise, you must be observing if anything there in your vessel needs fixing. Have them first fixed before you winterize them because cold weather could worsen its condition and make its problem worse.

Clean your boat thoroughly by scrubbing out any nasty gunk you may find that built up during the season of using them. This includes barnacles, grime and slime but do not only clean the exteriors but also the interiors of the craft too. Check the refrigerator lockers and look for those that would spoil if left there over the winter.

After you finished cleaning thoroughly your craft, you should get it dry before sending it to the storage space for it. Drain away all the water from it and the more efficient way of doing it is with raising the bow and leave it for some time to evaporate the moisture. Purchase mildew control bags and place them in compartments and cabin to prevent mildew.

Do an oil change because using them results to a good chance of having water and acid mixed with the oil and can corrode its engine. Doing this is important to avoid damage caused by long idleness to water crafts and could be done by having the filter replaced, the oil flushed then a new one poured in. Refresh coolant system by having it drained and use water for the remaining to be flushed and a new antifreeze replace it.

Loosen drive belts or remove it entirely then put them in storage and wait for the end of winter as leaving them all season cause the tensions to remain. Cracks may develop because of constant process of thawing and freezing. Disconnect battery to avoid energy drainage.

After you have than the above steps then give it a wax job. This does not only make the boat looks nice but stops the rust and corrosion. Cover it after to prevent dust and grime accumulation.
