Looking For A Right Hand Drive Camaro Conversion

By Jennifer Burns

A lot of vehicle owners may find it necessary to have a vehicle converted after being relocated to a foreign county. When you are trying to find a right hand drive camaro conversion there are two main ways you can achieve this. When exporting a car it is not illegal to use it with left hand controls but modifying the car will make it easier to drive.

When you have decided to modify there are more technical changes to be made than simply moving a few driver controls. As well as the pedals and steering wheel, some electrical switches and other trim will need to be moved or adjusted. The underside of the car will need some attention as well, especially exhaust systems and brakes, to ensure the vehicle can be driven safely.

The cheap way to do a conversion is to buy a kit from an auto supplier or online parts retailer and do the job yourself. There are various kits offered that are made for different Chevrolet camaro models. You need to be aware that due to the low cost of this method a lot of the metal work, fixings and mechanical components will be visible inside the vehicle when the job has been done.

Finding a kit for a camaro is reasonably simple and there are many web based auto spares companies that specialize in selling these packages. The kits are supplied with all of the necessary instructions and a link for some technical support. When you do the modifications yourself, you may need to buy extra tools and other gear to allow you to do complete your project.

The best option for good results is to give your camaro to a specialist engineering company and let them to do the modifications for you. There are many well established firms with years of experience who can carry out the modifications to an extremely high standard. It will be a much more expensive option than if you do the job as a project but the work they do will be covered by warranty against failure.

If choose to employ a technician to work on your car, a better finish can be achieved than with a kit. All of the new components that are fitted will be invisible and in most cases the car will look like a factory made right hand drive model. The advantage of using professional companies is that they will usually offer continued maintenance for the vehicle after the modifications have been done.

Whichever method you opt for it is imperative to have all work inspected for safety reasons. Most engineering firms will issue you with a certificate covering work and a list of what has been changed. If the work is done as a project then the vehicle will need to be submitted for the inspections prior to it being driven on the highways.

When you make major changes to your vehicle, the manufacturer guarantee will not apply. The value of your camaro may also be affected after the conversion work has been done. It is a legal requirement that you inform your car insurers after any modifications as it will affect the cover if you do not tell them and your premiums may increase.
